Below is a speech delivered by the Youth Agency’s very own Duo.

For most, if not all of us here today, our overarching mission is to be successful. Everyone in our lives wants us to achieve some sort of end goal. Our families, our teachers, our friends, and especially ourselves. But the most important thing is not our definition of success. Nor is it our families’, teachers’ or friends’ definitions for that matter. It’s not even about the steps we need to take to obtain it or the success itself.
It’s about how success makes each and every one of us feel. About how it has driven us to work late into the night to perfect that one project. About how it has motivated us to volunteer countless hours for those less fortunate. About how it has pushed four years of tedious yet dedicated work out of all of us in preparation for our next chapters in life.
Success can’t be defined as it is in the dictionary. Along with phrases such as love, happiness, and Taco Bell’s new Grande Scrambler Steak Burrito, words simply can’t describe it. Your concepts of success may not be the same as mine; all of our journeys are unique in their own right. And with it, we share one very key step in achieving these end goals: that we’ve graduated from New Milford High School together as one.
Four years of rigor have been but a mere obstacle in our path to success with decades of trials and tribulations that still lie ahead of us. But with our futures obscure and ambitions steep, what I can say for sure is that we can be proud of our achievements these past four years. Success for some of us may be very far away but for each one of us, we are all just small step closer to that sweet victory we have dreamed about.
Congratulations to our New Milford High School’s Class of 2015! Thank you to all the families, teachers, staff, and friends who have come together to make this day possible for every one of us. And to all of my fellow students, remember this: success is like finally admitting you’re addicted to Flappy Bird. It may have taken you a whole month and cracking your phone screen out of frustration for that high score of 10, but now you can finally start your next chapter in life. Good luck and have fun!
