Support Groups

Do you ever feel that you are the only one with a problem and that there is no one to talk with?  Talking with others can be a valuable method of working through problems.  Support groups provide opportunities to meet regularly with people who share common experiences and provide comfort and encouragement for each other.  Support groups provide help with many difficult situations:

· Alcohol or drug addiction
· Dealing with the death of a family member
· Homosexuality
· Learning to be a parent
· Coping with chronic disease, illness, or handicapping
condition
· Sexual Assault
· Date battering
· Other worries

Don’t be embarrassed to call a support group because nothing you say will seem strange or out-of-the-ordinary to people who share the same experiences as you.

Support groups are there for you.  But you must go to them.  If you think you need to talk about a problem, please call a support group.

For assistance in finding a support group, you can check the appropriate section of this booklet, contact your school counselor, INFOLINE at 211, the New Milford Youth Agency at 860-354-0047, United Way INFOLINE at 211 or the Youth Agency Hotline at 860-355-0047.

We are located at JPCC, 2 Pickett District Rd, New Milford CT
