Juvenile Review Board and Truancy Referrals
Youth Service Bureaus in the state of Connecticut are the referral source for schools, police, parents and guardians for support, services and recommendations for truancy, minor youth offenses, and defiance of school rules. The goal is to assist youth and families with non-criminal and minor youth offenses to avoid future criminal behavior, school drop out, and incarceration.
The New Milford Youth Agency is the Youth Service Bureau for the Town of New Milford. Referrals that were formally sent to DCF and to the police are sent to the Youth Agency.
The Youth Agency will work with the family, youth and schools to identify issues and address concerns. Addressing the concerns may include assisting with academic support, referral to counseling and positive community involvement, parent support, mediation, addressing medical or financial barriers and more.
